The 2014 Paris Motor Show sees Renault take the wraps off the new Espace. This large, elegant and innovative crossover, which combines a strong design and seductive appeal, is based largely upon the concept car that was revealed a year ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Like previous generations of the model in the course of its 30-year long career, a brightly-lit, comfortable and modular interior are the cornerstones of the new Espace which will also appeal thanks to fluid lines, as well as to its occupant-friendly cabin and floating centre console. Both the five- and seven-seat versions feature ingenious interior modularity and meticulous attention has been paid to detail with regard to the new car’s design and build. The new Renault Espace will make its world premiere at a press conference led by Mr. Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of the Renault Group, at 11.00am on Thursday, October 2, on the Renault stand at the Paris Motor Show.

Hi: I thought you might be interested to read this item about the Espace. We take the view at DTW that the Espace is a bit of a disappointment. All the previous iterations of the Espace majored on space and wrapped it a body of considerable charm, from the first to last versions. This car seems to draw on the amazing but amazingly unsuccessful Avantime of 2001. I frankly don´t believe the mantra of meticulous attention to design and build. I have been reading of this for two decades and distinctly recall the then chief designer Patrick Pelota claiming the last Laguna would be the kind of car you´d see at smart gymkhanas towing horseboxes. It wasn´t a bad car - shades of the CX about the nose -but it sank in the UK and is a rarity elsewhere. Lookswise it lacked the coherence of the predecessors. On a postive note, the Twingo does look convincing inside and out and is more of what I think Renault can do - not the cheapness but the elan and originality. http://driventowrite.com/2014/10/09/more-renault-2015-renault-avantime-sorry-espace/
Regards,

Richard
