To commemorate 30 years of the Peugeot GTi, a new TV commercial has been produced that incorporates some of the footage used in the original 205 GTi advert from 1984.

A technical featTo combine the cinematography techniques of 30 years ago with the best of current 3D animation, and to do it in a completely seamless way, to create a spectacle appropriate to the sporty nature of the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th was the challenge entrusted to the production company WIZZ Design. This challenge, taken up by Andy’s (multiple award winning 3D creators and famous for their animations ‘The Crew’ and ‘ZombiU’ created for Ubisoft), was a true technical feat.
The initial few seconds of the spot are taken from a film from the eighties, with no alteration: to do this it was necessary to find the original film reel and then digitise it. The legendary idea with the Peugeot 205 GTi and the bombardier has been reworked while observing the framing of the film of the time. Each element (bombardier, Peugeot 205 GTi and 208 GTi 30TH) has been modelled in 3D to allow the animation of the vehicles and the transition from the original 4/3 format to the current 16/9 format to be managed.
Since 17th September the GTi communities, Peugeot fans and prospective customers have been discovering exclusive ‘teaser’ content on the social networks (FaceBook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Google+).
After the launch of the film, original content, such as making of, bonus scenes, film posters, Vine videos… will add to the experience around the film. A Tumblr created for the occasion will group all this content together, as well as other exclusive features.
The hashtags #GTiLegend and #Peugeot208GTi30TH will bring together the discussions and impressions of the public.
Peugeot presents the 208 GTi 30th to the public at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, with European deliveries starting from November 2014. 30 years after the 205 GTi, Peugeot reinterprets the legend with the help of Peugeot Sport, in a more radical version of the sporty 208 GTi.
The 208 GTi 30th delivers more intense driving sensations with its new Euro 6 1.6-litre THP petrol engine developing 208 hp and torque increased to 300Nm. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, a Torsen limited slip differential and specific suspension and steering settings, for exceptional traction and effectiveness. Its sporty and assertive temperament can also be seen in its stance and look, in particular by its two-material livery, separated by a ‘Coupe Franche’ (straight-cut separation line).
